Join us at Benchill Community Centre for ‘Get Online Day’ on Friday 24th October 2008
From - 9:00am – 4:30pm

With V.I.P. visits from Paul Goggins MP and actor David Judge (Danny Valentine in Hollyoaks)

Bacon butties will be available PLUS a Prize Draw with prizes donated by Willow Park Housing Trust, Bonus Stores (Hollyhedge Road) and Garden City African Restaurant (Northenden).

The IT Suite at Benchill Community Centre is a ‘UK Online’ Centre and, last year, UK Online held a national Get Online Day. We, at the centre had a brilliant success with it. The children from the local school came in, some with their parents. We managed to sign up 98 new users. We got support from Paul Goggins MP last year, and he again has agreed to support us this year. He will join us at round 10:00 am. We are also lucky enough to be able to have David Judge of Hollyoaks fame, he played Danny Valentine.

One in three adults in the UK still are not online, and they’re missing out. Just think what they could be doing with all the benefits and opportunities the internet can provide. What’s more, if you’re already at a social or financial disadvantage, you’re three times more likely to be on the wrong side of the digital divide. We aim to get them on the right side with Get Online Day.

UK Online has their own prize draw, and any adult or family that does the challenge gets put in the draw. Because the children can’t enter the challenge without an adult, we have our own prize draw at the centre.

UK Online Centre’s are Government supported. The Minister for Digital Inclusion, Paul Murphy, MP. Is our greatest supporter. You can find the story on our website: www.benchillcommunitycentre.btik.com

It would be nice if accompanied children were able come over at around 10:00am to be there when the Celebrity and MP are there and to do the web challenge for photographs. We would also welcome the children coming in throughout the day.
