Apple & Pumpkin Day
18
October 2009
/ 11:00AM - 4:00PM.
@ Hulme Community Garden Centre
Free
This is a free family open-day event teaching adults and children how to grow their own food and learn new horticultural skills while promoting healthier lifestyles and celebrating seasonal food.
There will be several workshops throughout the day for visitors on how to grow fruit and vegetables and visitors will be able to take away plants to grow at home.
All activities will be aimed at people having fun while gaining an understanding of growing food, the physical and mental wellbeing promoted by horticultural activity and the benefits of a healthy diet. The event also gives families the opportunity to learn about the wider range of informal and formal training and education activities on offer at the Centre as well as the volunteering, training and work placement roles that the Centre offers.
As well as the workshops, expert staff will be on hand offering advice and guidance to people and their organisations on how to ‘green’ their own community spaces.
